Medication-Related Questions
A restart is when a client has missed a certain amount of consecutive days of their medication which would result in them being re-prescribed a base dose of their medication for safety purposes.
Carries refers to take-home doses that do not need to be administered and witnessed by your pharmacy. Carries are generally accumulated over the length of time you have been on a program as well as at the discretion of your physician.
Missing a singular dose of your medication should not disrupt your prescription. If you still have an active prescription, you can return to your pharmacy the following day and take any remaining doses. If you miss a certain amount of doses beyond the regulated timeframe, depending on the medication prescribed, you will be deemed a restart and will be required to meet with your physician to reinstate a new prescription.
If you are started on a medication you feel is not the right fit for your needs, we recommend following up with your physician to make any necessary changes.
